‒ tired tired sea by mediawhore: in my opinion, the best fic in the fandom. amazing writing and amazing setting, it's wonderful. louis lives alone in a lighthouse on a remote island in scotland, he has a b&b for tourists and one day he gets an unexpected guest (chaptered, no smut)

‒ honey, honey by resurrectdead: i randomly found it on my to-read list. it was the most adorable and comforting read in a while, i loved it. set in the 80s, includes mixtapes, bicycles and cute boys in love. (one chapter, there's smut)
‒ wild and unruly by 100percentsassy and gloria-andrews: an incredible fic featuring cowboy harry and lawyer (almost) louis. it quickly became one of my favourite fics, i loved reading it! the characters are well-rounded and the plot was a breath of fresh air (chaptered, there's smut)
‒ california sold by isthatyoularry: friends to lovers where harry is in a boyband, louis is not, and they get caught up in a stunt. louis is also demisexual, which i greatly appreciated being one myself (chaptered, a little smut)

‒ ever since i tried your way by flowercrownfemme: very soft and tender historical au where harry flees from the life his parents planned for him and ends up working at louis' farm. featuring harry as a total wife, beautiful dresses, cow births, and young men exploring themselves and falling in love (one chapter, there's smut)
‒ you and me were kings by orphan-account: american au where they're in high school and harry is the (adorable) local football hero, while louis despises the sport (one chapter, there's smut)
‒ mine would be you by crinkle-eyed-boo: amazing exes to friends to lovers fic. louis, a writer, comes back to new york after fleeing the city after a painful breakup five years prior. harry is an artist. i'm not really a lover of angst but i absolutely adored this one! amazing character development, dynamics and friendships (chaptered, there's smut)
‒ adore you by isthatyoularry: vaguely set in the '20s/'30s, harry hates his parents and their world, and hates the suitor they chose for him - until he falls in love with him, of course. i absolutely adored this fic! (chaptered, no smut)
‒ connoisseurs of comfort by sky-reid: au where harry is a cat/human hybrid who ends up living with louis. super sweet, the best cat hybrid fic i've ever read (one chapter, there's smut)
‒ relief next to me by dolce-piccante: a long fic full of healthy relationships, beautiful friendships and lots of communication. if my standards were high before reading it, now they've skyrocketed. absolutely lovely and well written (well, it's from dolce) + there's some fics that complete it at the end (chaptered, there's smut)
‒ here in the afterglow by fondleeds: beautiful historical au set in the 70s, where louis is slowly vanishing due to the heavily homophobic society and his peers at school and harry’s a new student (chaptered, there’s smut)
